Overview of Y2 Summer Term
Week 4: Growing up
Growth- Maturity-Fruitfulness: As we let God lead us, the desires, which he puts in us
and the good works he has planned for us, come together in a fulfilling way.
Refer to the growth in the children over the year, stressing that God has not finished
yet! Only God knows the future – he has prepared good works for you to do. He
gives us desires.
Write up these questions which give the structure for the children’s writing: -
• What would you like to be? Why?
• What new things would you like to learn? Why?
• Where would you like to go to? Why?
• What sort of person would you like to be?
Growing up is a good thing, and the Holy Spirit is the One who helps us and leads us
on. Ask the children to end their writing with a prayer, expressing trust in God and
asking him to guide them.
Week 5/6: Writing short plays (use of speech marks and exclamations)
Refer to plays written in Y1 which were set out like this: -
Tom: Come over here.
John: I am coming.
Explain to the children that speech marks can now be added to new plays they may
write.
Tom: “Come over here.”
John: “I am coming.”
Select relevant topics, e.g. a parent explaining instructions to a child, a coach training
a footballer or athlete.
One play could be about two animals as in Aesop’s fables.
