Truth to Teach (Source)

 The properties and uses of rubber.

 Materials used in making a tyre.

 To give the children opportunity to précis given information and to gather other
information from a variety of sources.

Way to Work (Means)

1. Review the overall aims of the project.

2. Show the children a rubber tyre either from a car or a bicycle. Let the children share
observations and previous knowledge.

3. Explain that rubber is a product of trees though we now have man-made products too.

Give the children the Wikipedia information to create notes and diagrams of their own.

Direct them to use books and the Internet to gather further information about rubber.

4. The worksheet on the tyre may be used but some clues may need to be given to enable the
children to find the answers. It could also be completed for homework.

5. Gather back just before the end of the lesson to share interesting facts which the children
may have discovered.

Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

1. The children will have gained factual knowledge about rubber.

2. They will have had further practise in gathering and recording information from a variety of
sources.
