        Truth to Teach (Source)

 The properties and uses of glass.

 To give the children opportunity to arrange given information and identify the main ideas
                   in passages of prose.

        Way to Work (Means)

             1. Review the overall aims of the project.

             2. Let the children work in pairs to list as many uses of glass as they can.

             3. Gather back to create a class list.

             4. Give guidelines for the children to create a newspaper about glass with headlines, facts,
diagrams, etc. The facts can be cut out and arranged on a paper with headlines which the
children are to choose for themselves. Encourage them to read the information and try to
ascertain the main idea in each one then summarise it into a headline.

             5. Children may show their papers at the end of the lesson and/or display them for others to
                  read later.

        Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

             1. The children will have gained factual knowledge about glass

             2. They will have had experience in arranging factual information in a creative way and in
selecting the main ideas for headlines.
