A CREATIVE WRITING LESSON
Truth to Teach (Source)
John 6:44 ‘No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.’
The drawing power of a magnet is a picture of Father’s love drawing us
to Himself.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Share the vision of writing a class poem about magnets and magnetic power. Using a
magnet and some paper clips, allow the children to watch how the clips are drawn to the
magnet when it is brought close. Repeat a few times.
2. Gather a bank of words and phrases on the board. Can the children see beyond the magnet
and paper clips? What is the magnet like? Who is the magnet like? Can some people act
out what happens to the paper clips and magnet? Continue to gather words and phrases.
3. With help from the children, begin to structure the thoughts and words into a poem. If time
permits ask the children to write it down.
Learning for Life (Fulfilment)
1. For the children to consider God’s love and Grace.
2. For the children to experience the joy of being creative with words and creating a
poem together.
