ANIMAL MOVEMENT
Truth to Teach (Source)
Proverbs 30:24-31 God has created animals with the ability to perform
different actions.
To recognise and use doing words / present tense verbs.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Review the previous lesson. Stress the importance of every sentence having
a verb.
2. Show lots of pictures of animals and ask the children to suggest verbs /
doing words to describe their movement, eg jump, hop, run, crawl, swim, fly,
burrow.
3. Put sentences on the board for the children to identify the doing words, eg
The horse gallops.
4. Let the children formulate sentences given a verb, eg chase – The lion
chases its prey.
5. Let the children try the worksheet. More able children could write sentences
about animal movement.
6. End by thanking God for all the creatures he has created and the different
ways in which they can move.
Learning for Life (Fulfilment)
1. The children should be familiar with present tense verbs and be able to
recognise them in simple sentences as well as use them in their writing.
