At the end of the day let the children share their comments on Victorian school life.
Discuss whether the verses above had been adhered to in Victorian schools.
Learning for Life (Fulfilment)
1. The children will have experienced a different school day which will hopefully
have made them appreciate their own school.
2. They will have seen the need for social reform in those days and may well
have been prompted to look out for the social needs of our day.
3. They should have recognised the place Christians played in providing
education for the poor, eg Robert Raikes.

Exodus 20:8 ‘Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.’
Matthew 28:18-20 Great Commission
The Victorians kept the Sabbath day and went to church.
Many schools developed from church-run schools so religion was important.
Most Victorians were God-fearing; Christianity was important.
The Bible was seen as a very important book.
