Page 6 - FOUNDATIONS FOR LIFE; EXPLORING GOD’S UNIVERSE
P. 6
Acts 17:26 ‘From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit
the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the
exact places where they should live.’
John 3:16 ‘God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’
A nation is made up of lots of families with their own language and land.
Just as a person is born into a family so they are born into a nation.
Family heritage and national heritage are as a result of God’s sovereign will for us and
are to be received with gratitude.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Explain that the project this term is about God’s heart for the nations. Establish what
a nation is – a lot of families together with one language and their own land.
2. Show the children a globe and a map of the world ensuring that they realise that they
show the same. Point out some well-known nations, including the UK.
3. Talk about the Bible saying that from one man (Adam) God made all the nations and
planned where they would be.
4. Explain that it is God’s plan that we are all born into a family and into a nation. We all
need to feel that we belong.
5. Ask if Jesus belonged to a nation. (Israel) Talk about God loving all nations so much
so that he sent his Son, Jesus, to live on the earth and to die so that we could know,
and enjoy a relationship with, Father God. We could be a part of his big world-wide
family. People from all nations belong to Father God’s big family.
6. Ask the children how we discover which nation people are from – language, looks, skin
colour. Talk about the importance of respecting people from all nations.
7. If any of the children have travelled to other nations they may like to share about the
need of a passport. Show one. It states which nation you are from – which nationality,
where you were born, when you were born, etc.
8. Let the children complete the worksheet and begin colouring their title page.
