Effective meetings
In this module we will cover:
• outcomes of ineffective meetings
• spending less time in meetings
• tips for effective meetings
• reviewing meetings
• types of meetings
• meeting procedures
• making decisions
• chairing meetings
• the secretary
• listening and conflict negotiation skills.
Introduction
All clubs/federations hold meetings of some kind. These can vary from informal
chats to formal annual general meetings. Meetings are an important way for clubs/
federations to:
• communicate with their people
• make key decisions about where they are heading
• agree how they will get there.
Too often clubs/federations hold ineffective meetings. These meetings waste
people’s time. This module will give you the skills to plan and facilitate shorter but
more effective meetings.
Outcomes of ineffective meetings
There are many reasons why meetings can be ineffective.
