                           Activity 3.4

Has your club/federation written and sent out any media releases? If so, what did
they look like and were they successful?

                  Preparing for media interviews
If you are lucky enough to attract media interest, you will need to prepare for
a media interview. These opportunities should not be wasted by a lack of
                  preparation.

                  Before the interview, find out:
                  • what the focus of the story is. Ask the reporter what their focus will be
                  • who else is being interviewed for the story. If the reporter lists your competition
(that is, another club/federation), this is a good time to suggest other people
who will reinforce or enhance your perspective and image
                  • what their deadline is. Expect a longer, more in-depth interview if the reporter
has days rather than hours, or even minutes to put a story together
                  • if it is taped or live, so that you are able to prepare accordingly.
