August-September
For the months of August and September, the CoKoSing campaign was carried out to promote responsible attitudes towards food
waste. Food waste is an important global problem and a responsibility for global citizens to understand and address in their daily lives.
Through this campaign, the aim was to instill our students with a passionate regard for conserving precious food resources that
are so scarce in much of the world. Students could learn how their own actions in not wasting food can help the world in a
meaningful way.
In the third week of August, the participating students made posters to promote saving food and communicate the message of
the campaign to their classmates. There was a prize for the best posters and the posters were put up around the school.
During the last week of August, the participating students rewarded students that do not waste food at lunchtime with a sticker.
Students collected the stickers on a special card that they were given. Students with all four stickers collected by the end of the
week entered into a prize draw. Prizes were awarded during the assembly.
October-November
For the month of October, the campaign aimed to promote character development and sound judgement. Treating others with
dignity and respect is an important aspect for global citizens to understand and address in their daily lives, especially when living
in a culture or environment that is not their own.
To instill in our students the knowledge that all people have inalienable rights and worth, students could learn how their own
actions affect others, be it in a meaningful or harmful way.
It would take place over two weeks. In the first week, participating students would make posters to promote the right or wrong way of
treating others and communicate the message of the campaign to their classmates. The posters would be put up around the school.
During the second week, participating students would prepare construction paper pumpkins. Students would distribute the
pumpkins. They would write either a trick or a treat when a person was kind or mean to them. the pumpkins would then be
th
chosen at random in a lucky draw. Prizes would be awarded on Halloween (25 October).
