English Camp

Welcome to The Wide World of English! English is one of the most common languages in the world and used by over 2 billion people as
a means to communicate on an international level. Learning English will help you communicate with people from countries all over the
world and will make you part of a wider, global conversation. There’s no better way to get familiar with the world-wide English language
phenomenon than to experience the cultures of those that speak it. For one week in September the classrooms at Singapore Korean
International School were transformed into English speaking nations from all across the world. From the sunny Caribbean islands of the
Bahamas and Jamaica to the misty British Isles and Ireland. The North American expanse of the United States and Canada to Australia and
New Zealand in Oceania and the English speaking countries of Asia; India and Singapore. The week was filled with fun and excitement
as SKIS students delved deeply into the culture, customs and cuisines of their chosen country. The week culminated in a daylong event
that started with song and dance as the children took to the stage to give their parents a taste of each country’s music with a vibrant,
multicultural performance. After the performance parents were invited to take tour of all the homeroom classes where they marveled at
cultural specific décor, tried traditional snacks, took part in a wide array of interesting activities and learned alongside their children as the
embarked on journey across the English speaking world.
