Since our survey may show a limited number of answers, we decided to hold an
interview and ask questions that were more specific versions of the survey ones.
We asked questions that were similar to the survey, but we made it so that the
students who were interviewed gave more elaborate opinions on questions such
as their reason for their thinking. The questions that were asked were: Which app
they preferred, and the reasons for it, their opinion on the preference of the student
body and its reasons, and if Facebook was losing its popularity, and Instagram
successfully maintaining its position as “king of social media.” Through this
interview, we were able to receive answers that would support our thesis.
3. Results:
The results from our survey and interview supported our thesis. We had a total of
30 survey respondents, and 83.3% of them stated that they preferred Instagram
over Facebook.
Fig 1. The pie chart above shows the percentage of students preferring Instagram, Facebook, or
having no preference.
There were several factors in which they preferred Instagram, but the significant
factor was the uncomplicated structure of Instagram, and its many features.
