Wilton Bowls Club staged the final session of their Annual Licensed Fours Competition for
the James Gilmore Memorial Trophy in the S.M.A. Parish Hall, Wilton. The tournament was
once again a great success and attracted teams from all the leading clubs in the Cork Zone and
resulted in a victory for Douglas G.A.A. who defeated Glounthaune in the final.
In the Quarter-finals Wilton (N. O’Keeffe) beat Grange/Frankfield (H. Morey, P. Long,
B.S.Hamilton & J. Long), Glounthaune (A. Ruxton) beat Pfizers (M. Fitzgerald, S. Cronin, G.
Ryan & C. Buckley), Conna (A. Tanner) beat Carrigaline Community (M. Hanlon, E. Fitzgerald,
P. Collins & V. Todd) and Douglas
GAA (D. Twohig) beat Wilton (A.
Logan, T. Walsh, C. Lewis & K.
Gilmore).
In the Semi-finals, Gloun-
thaune (A. Ruxton) beat Wilton
(Breda McTeggart, Betty O’Ke-
effe, Donie O’Leary & Neil O’Ke-
effe) and Douglas GAA (D.
Twohig) beat Conna (George
Tanner, Dave Cliff, John Martin &
Adrian Tanner.
In the final Douglas GAA
(Ann Twohig, Michael Daly,
Paddy Barry & Danny Twohig)
beat Glounthaune (Rory Canning,
Marian Canning, Liam O’Connell
& Albert Ruxton)(7/6)
The final was umpired by
Tom Liston and at the conclusion
of play Neil O’Keeffe (Club Cap-
tain) presented the prizes and the
James Gilmore Memorial Trophy
was presented by Kathleen
Gilmore to Danny Twohig, the
Skip of the winning team.
