Hi Bob, Many
thanks for putting
me in touch with
David Germain of
Ebble Valley
SMBC who had
some spare
mats.
He played a
blinder in not only
giving us a mat in
very good condi-
tion (well worth
the £100 asking
price) but also
getting it trans-
ported to us here.
Being on
the northern
shores of the River Clyde getting anything transported to us is a major exercise as the world
in the eyes of transportation companies stops on the southern shore. Despite it only being a
20 min ferry crossing, costs suddenly escalate to the equivalent of sending someone to the
moon and back. Anyway we managed to arrange delivery to Gourock and pulled in a favour
to get it across on the ferry.
Our little group of a dozen or so are very happy bunnies with the new mat and much
enjoyment is had three mornings a week. It's a tight fit in the clubhouse but we manage and
enjoy short mat bowls using junior bowls though there is now a growing urge to try full size
bowls now that we have the new mat. So we shall see - that may be tried out in the remain-
ing few weeks before the outdoor season starts with a view to using full sized bowls next
winter. You never know we may yet get a burgeoning SMB community in Argyll !
