The Final 7
The Final
In the final Hol-
mans surprisingly es-
tablished a winning
lead over Sidbury’s
Best Triple in the first
few ends and eventu-
ally won 17-3.
Representing Sid-
bury in the Singles was
Andy Thompson, who
is visually challenged
and uses a spyglass.
Andy was keen to
Six of Best Finalists Sudbury avenge a recent defeat
L to R, Kim Wright, Alan Thompson, by Peter Hore and the
Carol Osborne, Eric & Caroline Pavey, Malcolm Sheen game was close all the
way through.
On the key end Peter was holding three with the jack near the edge of the mat and had a wide
margin to draw for four. Unfortunately, he was just too accurate and drew right to the jack with just
enough weight to take it off the mat. Andy ran out the winner 9-7. The result therefore depended
on the Pairs which were the last discipline to finish. Sidbury’s Caroline and Eric Pavey had made
a good start and were several shots ahead but gradually lost ground. A close finish saw the Hol-
mans Pair just squeeze it by 7-6 to take the ‘Six of the Best’ title at just the second attempt.
