Another Breakaway Leisure tournament with a
“get to know everyone” fun event on the opening
evening, which ended up in a 10 shot victory for
Dave Taylor, Maria Kitchener and Philip Wright.
The first event to be completed was the 2-bowl
Singles.
At the quarter final stage Maria Kitchener
scored a last end two to beat Derrick Oxley 8 - 6.
Maureen Fyson finished off with two two’s for a 9
- 5 victory over previous winner Dave Taylor.

Maria Kitchener & Phillp Wright
came from behind to beat John Paddy 8 - 6. The
final match saw Gordon Kelman beat Mary Paddy 8 - 7
after completing a sudden death extra end. Gordon had
an easier time in his semi-final with a 9 - 2 victory over
Janet Pearson. In the battle between to ladies Maureen
Fyson eased to a 9 - 2 win over Maria Kitchener.
The final turned out to be a very hard fought affair
with Gordon leading 6 - 5 going into the last end but Mau-
reen Fyson snatched victory with a two for a 7 - 6 victory.
In the Triples quarter finals Margaret Hinson, Mar-
garet Howe & Rita Clifford-Pendleton came from behind
to beat Derek Oxley, Joan & Dave Taylor 7 shots to 3.
Joyce Gibson, Toni & Bill Gearing led 8 - 2 at one stage
but by the last but one end Jean Wiles, John Clifford-
Pendleton & Dorothy Kelman had levelled the score to 8
all but in the end it was Joyce Gibson, Toni & Bill Gearing

Completing the round Jeff Redman, Chris-
tine Knight & Sandra Hare romped home
14 - 2 over Ken Phillips, Rosemary &
Michael Hare.
Jeff Christine & Sandra came under
the cosh themselves as they lost their semi-
final 14 - 1 to Janet Vaz, Richard & Maria
Kitchener.
The other semi-final was also one-
sided as Joyce Gibson, Toni & Bill Gearing
romped home 12 - 3 over Margaret Hinson,
Margaret Howe & Rita Clifford-Pendleton.
In the final Joyce, Toni & Bill kept up
their good form for a 10 - 3 championship
