As to the question, firstly let me say it’s not me! Yes, I compile the mag-
azine and produce it. However, there are two important groups of people who make the magazine
work. Firstly, we have advertisers, who’s revenue covers the shortfall in production costs, as sub-
scriptions do not fully cover the total costs. Secondly, without some readers sending in their stories
and news, all we would have is blank pages and thus no-one would subscribe.
I keep asking the advertisers and at the moment they have kept their advertising going, so
you should support these people first. Secondly, there is a large number of events taking place in
the Short Mat World and only a tiny proportion appears in the magazine. I always need more ar-
ticles and news and this is where I need YOUR SUPPORT. Everyone deserves their 15 minutes
of fame, so why not let the World know about your winners and club news and show just how
good your club is!
It would be nice to know about what you think of your sport and what you would change and
improve. The magazine has been going
for 24 years and many years ago I prom-
ised myself not to comment on our sport
and what our governing bodies do but I
have been bursting at the seams lately
and I have broken my promise. However,
I would prefer YOUR VIEWS in the mag-
azine. What would you change is the rules
and why?
How do you think our sport should
be promoted? At times, or mostly, depend-
ing on your viewpoint, governing bodies
forget/ignore (your choice), that the sport
belongs to the vast majority of player who
play in their local clubs and don’t enter
county or National competitions, nor write

If all the National teams disappeared

jority of the grass roots of club players not
one single jot! I realise it but others don’t
