Norfolk Over 60s completed their Eastern England League season with a 26-24 home win against
Northants to win the title for the first time in several years. The result completed a perfect season
for the team who won all their matches to win the league by a mile. Jenny Walker, Sue Fox & Mike
Boswell won twice and drew their other game as did Margaret Reynolds, Malcolm Reynolds &
Colin Coman. Norfolk Over 60’s organiser Teresa Goldsmith was delighted for the players who
completed home and away wins against both Northants & Cambridgeshire.

Halvergate lifted the Norwich Cup
for the first time after making home
advantage count against visitors
Thorpe Marriott. With a four point
lead from the first leg Thorpe Mar-
riott needed to make a good start
but their triples, who had performed
heroically in both the first leg and
against Kirby Bedon in the semi-fi-
nals, failed to maintain their momen-
tum in the first session.
Ryan Fox, Ray Lamb & Rob-
bie Lamb overcame Bob McPher-
son’s triple 11-7 while Jackie Smith, Roy Walker & Simon Warnes stormed to a 13-2 win against
John Jarvis’ triple on Halvergate’s tricky mat two. That left the teams level on points and so they
remained after the pair’s first session.
Sylvia Turner & Tony Turner put on a superb show of bowling as they outplayed Steven &
David Lamb to win their game 10-3 to score Thorpe Marriott’s first win of the night. But on mat
one David Knights & Keith Cooke were never in any trouble as they beat Kath Frost & Richard
Perkins 13-2. Cooke has been on fire in recent weeks and again displayed the form that earned
him an England call-up.
