In the two-bowl singles semi-finals Fred Douglas clawed
his way back into his match with Joan Taylor but Joan
edged him out 7 - 6. At 6 all going into the last end Peter
Williams and Tony Chawner were locked in battle but Peter
scored a two to win 8 - 6. Phil Wright had an easier task
against Richard Kitchener winning 9 - 5. Richard Paddy
also had an easy task beating Dorothy Kelman 9 - 2.
In his semi-final Richard was beaten 8 - 5 by Peter
Williams. The other semi finished 6 all but in the sudden

After fighting through the round robin stages
and a prelim game, Brian Tills, John & Merry Huth-
waite won their quarter final with Margaret Hinson,
Margaret Howe & Jean Wiles 6 - 5. None of the
other quarter were so close. Jean Ide, Robin & Jean
Germany beat Fred Douglas, Dorothy & Gordon
Kelman 9 - 3.

romped home 13 - 3 over Brenda Manning, Jackie
Johnson& John Marsden. Completing the round
Eileen Bellett, Roger & Sheila Booker beat Mary,
Richard & John Paddy 8 - 4.
In the semi’s Eileen, Roger & Sheila were in
supreme form beating Joy Morson, Sandra & Rod- Triples Champions

Booker started off with a stunning five on the opening end.
Jean Ide, Robin & Jean Germany tried hard but needed a
full house six on the last end to force a draw. They managed
a gallant four but lost 11 - 9 in the end.
In the pairs quarter finals, the successful teams were
Richard & Mary Paddy, 10 - 4 over Sheila & Derrick Oxley.
Roger & Sheila Booker who beat Clive & Norma Wilkins 10
- 7. Sandra & Rodney Draycott needed an extra end to beat
Ken Stout & Lucille Westwick 10 - 9. Completing the quarter
finals Joan & Dave Taylor beat Marnie & Philip Wright 10 -

At the semi-final stages and extra end was needed to
sort out the winners between Sheila & Roger Booker and
Sandra & Rodney Draycott, finishing 9 all it was the Dray-
cott’s who scored on the extra end.
