Not to be outdone Richard Perkins pro- 7
duced two superb woods on the next end
to close the gap to 4-3. Another single fol-
lowed for Warnes & Cooke but again Walker &
Perkins dug deep to level the game on the fifth end
as they took two shots.
Once again though it was the Halvergate pair
who moved ahead with three shots on the next end
to edge themselves nearer the title. On the penul-
timate end the Thorpe Marriott pair kept their
hopes alive with a single to go into the last end just
two shots behind.
Excellent bowls by Jenny Walker and Richard
Perkins left them holding two shots but Cooke had
been deadly on his backhand all night and again
drew in a good second wood to ensure an 8-7 win.
In the semi-finals both matches were tight with Warnes & Cooke beating Woodbastwick’s
Norma & Peter Jablonowski 7-6 and Walker & Perkins beating fellow Thorpe Marriott pair Sylvia
& Tony Turner by the same score-line.

Mother & son Geraldine and
Gerald Potter of East Tudden-
ham, skipped by Chris “The
Blazer” Mann, lifted the Bure
Triples title at Horsford BC beat-
ing Window’s Brenda Sizer,
Diane Boswell & Mike Boswell
in a final that was decided on
the last end.
The neutrally positioned mat for any final at this venue always presents challenges to the fi-
nalists and this year was no exception. But it was former European Open champion Chris Mann
who always looked likely to be the deciding factor in this close match and so it proved to be as he
produced two class woods on the final end to clinch a 9-8 win for his
triple.
Going into the penultimate end Mann’s triple led 7-5 and were
holding shot until Mike Boswell’s final bowl. He appeared to be too
tight with his forehand attempt but glanced off a short wood, hitting
the jack and taking it across the mat to score three shots. This left
Windows with an 8-7 lead to take into the last end and after Brenda
Sizer & Diane Boswell had drawn in their woods an upset looked on
the cards.
East Tuddenham’s skip Chris Mann though produced two per- FROM

fect woods to add the triples title to the singles title he had already Selwyn Goldsmith
collected. In the semi-final Chris Mann’s triple had defeated defending
champions Chrissie Turner, Melvin Woods & John Turner 6-5 while Mike Boswell’s triple had won
by 13-4 against Richard Perkins, Mandy Marshall & Tony Turner of Thorpe Marriott.
