for Wales over Scotland. This match had two draws in it but the scoreline for Wales was immensely
helped by a 22 - 5 for the rink led by C. Evans.
The second days play also started with
Wales taking on Ireland once again with a sim-
           ilar 45 - 33 scoreline for Ireland. England’s

In the second England v Wales clash it McDermott Trophy
was a repeat of the premier event with Wales
gaining revenge at 39 - 37, despite an 18 - 2 from England’s Matt Dillon, David Newsome, Nicky
Bartlett & Steve Burrows, Wales won the other three rinks. In the final round of games Ireland duly
beat England 42 - 25, whilst Wales won 39 - 25 with Scotland drawing two of the four games.
The overall result of both championships saw England taking most of the Premier events
and Ireland taking most of the “A” team events. The icing on the cake was also winning the Ronnie
McDermott trophy for the best overall results in the Premier Championships.

I owe an immense amount of gratitude to the photographer Alan Evans. He was very professional
in his approach and took an amazing selection photos and allowed
me to use a selection for the magazine. I have been covering the
British Isles event for all of its 29 year history (Including playing in the
first three) and Alan is the most helpful photographer I have come
across, even helping this novice with his camera technique during the
weekend. An article by him has been included on page 17. You can
