NFC Smart Book Project
Deborah DeJong, a Renison alumna donated her book, DANCE: Five Steps to Living your Best Life, for
this project including a digitized book plate. The Library created a smartbook system which could
generate a mobile e-book on the fly. A smart book card with QR CODE and NFC built in chip was
provided to the readers so that they can tap with their NFC enabled phone and tablet to access the
book e-content in a variety of formats via their mobile web browser (http://www.renbook.ca/books/d-
a-n-c-e-five-steps-to-living-your-best-life). The project was sponsored by the University of Waterloo
Bookstore.
