ALL ABILITIES - REPORT
President : Sharon Hamilton
2021 has been a busy year for All Abilities. Despite extensive
lockdowns, we have seen 300+ attendees across 50+ events, with
regular programs including basketball (both online and in person),
swimming, schmooze and groove and Sunday zoom sessions. We
have also been lucky enough to run additional activities including an afternoon of
sailing with Sailability, training with the AJAX Senior Cricket Club and AJAX Senior
Football club, and an 80s disco dance party with Maccabi NSW All Abilities. We
would especially like to thank the AJAX Maccabi Cricket and Football clubs for
embracing our members with tailored training sessions, enthusiastic volunteers,
and welcoming social activities. Discussions are already underway for the coming
seasons.
2021 has not been without its challenges, however our incredible coaches and
volunteers continue to amaze us with their flexibility and creativity. Their
willingness to adapt programs to an online environment at a moment’s notice has
ensured that our members have been able to stay active and connected during
lockdowns.
This year has also seen new faces, with Kate Lustig joining us as Program Officer,
adding to her Maccabi involvement as athlete and coach. We have also been lucky
enough to host a Bachelor of Health Sciences student from Deakin University and
a team of Masters of Physiotherapy students undertaking a health promotion
project. Our students have been a great addition to our programs.
A huge thank you to our generous donors who continue to support our All Abilities
program, our dedicated coaches and volunteers, and to the Maccabi Victoria
clubs, Board, Foundation and office staff who help make our programs possible.
