MACCABI VICTORIA BASKETBALL CLUB - REPORT
President: Kane Siegel
2021 was all about getting all of our players back on court safely, enjoying the
game of basketball while constantly adapting to the changing environment as a
result of COVID restrictions. We kicked off 2021 with some outdoor Skills Clinic
due to COVID restrictions not allowing indoor play, which was attended by over
300 of our junior players. It was great initiative to get many of our members back
on the court after the cancellation of the 2020 season. The Junior Season properly
commenced in February, with over 640 players registered to play across 81 teams.
While the season was disrupted and eventually cancelled due to lockdowns, it was
great to see all of members having fun and developing their skills.
The Big V Men, Youth League and Senior Women all had disrupted seasons with
some great on-court results. Pleasingly, the Seniors Men’s Team included 9
players that had previously played with the Youth League team. Unfortunately, the
cancellation of the season meant that finals could not be played but all the players
and staff are ready for a big season in 2022.
All Abilities, managed to get back on court between lockdowns and adapted to
ensure training continued over zoom during lockdown to ensure all the players
were engaged.
We are really grateful for the efforts of all involved getting the season up and
running including the Committee, Volunteers, Parents, Coaches and Players.
After a very challenging 2021, the whole club is keen to get back on court for the
2022 season.
