AJAX SENIORS PRESIDENTS - REPORT
President: Ronnie Lewis
Season 2021 was another frustrating and disappointingly Covid affected one for our
Club, with only 11 rounds played this year.
Following no footy in 2020, the Club was delighted with the response from our
playing group who turned up in record numbers this year. We fielded five teams and
all had positive seasons, on and off the field, with the feeling around the Club as strong as I can
remember.
Our young and talented Development 2 team and our awesome Jackettes both made it through to
the finals, however due to the season being cut short, were unable to complete their campaigns.
Our Senior, Development and Sunday teams all had good success but finished short of making it to
the top 4 in their respective competitions.
Our Senior team finished on 4 wins (equal 5th on points), our Development team on 5 wins (equal
6th on points) and our Sunday team on 5 wins, narrowly missing finals by percentage only.
A massive vote of thanks to our committee, coaches and coaching assistants, Team Managers,
media team, physios and trainers, stats boys, water boys, our large team of staff and volunteers,
umpires, timekeepers and canteen staf for a great job in what we know where tough circumstances,
with a number of restrictions placed on you due to Covid during the year.
A huge vote of thanks to Michael and our Club sponsor Teska Carson for their valued support again
this year, as well as our other major sponsors Eskal, The Pratt Foundation, Sound Insurance, Lowe
Lippmann & Barton Glass, you are sincerely appreciated. You make the running of our Club possible
and we are delighted to have you all on the Jackas team.
A big thank you also to our Platinum, Gold, Silver & Bronze Jackas donors, our Golf Day sponsors
& our scoreboard & balcony advertisers.
We are very excited about two capital projects that we have been planning for a while and that
should both be delivered in 2022, which will significantly improve our Club’s resources:
- Our clubroom extension which has now been approved, will commence shortly and will be
completed by May
- Our oval lighting upgrade which we are hoping will be approved by the Council shortly and installed
early in the year
And finally to our players. You are the reason our Club exists. Thank you all for your effort, patience,
persistence, commitment and passion in representing AJAX FC and broader community, both on
and off the field. A big congratulations to all our award winners. While this is a team game, it is nice
to recognise those who have achieved towards that.
It’s been an honour and a lot of fun to lead the Club again in 2021, in spite of the crazy times we are
living in. I will be standing for re-election and look forward to working again with a great committee,
volunteers and coaching staff to make season 2022 another successful one for our great Club.
