INTRODUCTION

n this analysis, we explore Clinton A. Patterson’s article titled “Mentoring Programs:

Characteristics Within HRD and Higher Education Contexts”, published in Volume
26, Issue 1 (pages 56-66) 2024 of the journal Advances in Developing Human
Resources. It examines mentoring programs in the realms of Human Resource
Development (HRD) and higher education.
To begin, we examine what the article aims to achieve, and then identify the key
points it presents about HRD practices. Following that, we suggest a theory relevant to
the article. Finally, we consider how reading the article has helped us gain new insights
into the practices of HRD.
By analysing Patterson’s exploration of mentoring programs, we seek to uncover
valuable implications for practice and scholarship in HRD and higher education. Join us
as we navigate through the article, shedding lights on the signi�icance of mentoring for
professional development and organizational success within these
contexts.
