FLAG OFF & COURTESY CALL MEETINGS

To foster collective accountability and get buy-in, the ‘TRC- community activities’ implementation across
Lindi and Mtwara Regions was kick-started by courtesy call meetings involving SAIMAL’s Regional SBCC
Coordinator & respective Regional Project Supervisors, key Government Representatives at the Regional
(Regional Commissioner, RAS, Regional Health Management Teams), District Council level (District
Commissioner, District Health Management Teams) and a representative from SIMBA NET (the campaign’s
key LLINs distribution partners). Throughout our engagements, we were accompanied by the respective
TMARC Regional SBCC Officers and District Malaria Focal persons.

AIMAL participated in the 2 Flag engagement meetings with Local Government Authority (LGAs), community
leaders and key influencers: These meetings were organized in close collaboration between T-MARC, LGAs,
TVCA and Saimal to ensure that local leaders from all levels are engaged from the initial planning of activities.
While TVCA & T-MARC led the inception meeting with LGAs across the six targeted municipalities.

To ensure our respective Regional Teams were warmly welcomed and provided with all relevant support, an
introductory letter was issued from Local Government ( PO-RALG) introducing the Targeted Replacement
Campaign implementating partners SAIMAL to the respective Regional / District Council offices where the
‘TRC’ community activities were scheduled to be conducted.

SAIMAL’s SBC teams also demonstrated community activities (PSAs & Community Theatre) implementation
mechanics and conducted an extensive review of aligned campaign route-plan and key campaign messages
for feedback, recommendations, action and successful implementation of aligned SBC Experiential activities.
