Beef Burger Bob’s
Beef burger
Southeast Kansas is known for its small town “beef burgers” a regional
favorite served at all the local hamburger joints throughout Fredonia,
Neodesha, Altoona, and Southeast Kansas
Ingredients
2 lb Ground chuck KANSAS MAID RITE
1 can chicken broth
3 lbs ground beef
1 Tbsp lard 2Tbsp dried onions
1/2 tsp salt 1 tbsp warm water
¼ tsp pepper 1 beef bouillon cube
4 tbsp dried onion 1 chicken bouillon cube
½ cup water
1 pkg dried onion soup mix
1 onion, finely chopped 1 tbsp Worcestershire
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tbsp yellow mustard
2 tbsp cider vinegar
1 tbsp vinegar 2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp sugar
Lagniappe
Melt fat over medium heat and salt the bottom of the skillet, cook the meat
till it is crumbled into small pieces.
Add chopped Onion while browning meat,
Drain off any grease and return skillet to the heat. Add the Onion soup mix,
mustard, sugar, vinegar and just enough broth to barely cover the meat in the
pan.
Cook at a simmer till all the liquid is cooked out of the meat, adjust the salt
& pepper.
Serve on a toasted bun with onion, pickle and mustard.
