SHERIFF’S OFFICE DETENTION
CENTER

The Hernando County Sheriff’s
Office Detention Center kicked
off National Correctional Officers
and Employees Week with a post
on its Facebook page (140,000
plus followers) thanking staff and
sharing President Reagan’s 1984
proclamation.
All employees were treated to a
smoked brisket lunch/dinner pre­
pared by our own staff. One of our
local Publix supermarkets donated
cupcakes, and staff members
received thank­you cards from the
jail’s command team that included
free appetizer coupons from the
local Texas Roadhouse. All deten­
tion staff were entered into three
daily drawings for $25 gift cards
provided by the Employee Benefit
Fund. Keefe Commissary added
four more $25 gift cards for the
daily drawings. Lieutenant Teresa
Stevens gave away handmade
tumblers and allowed the winners
to pick their own design.
We also shared the love with
our Florida DOC neighbors at
Hernando Correctional Institution
by sending our world­famous jail­
house cookies to their staff.
