Exercise and Discuss:
Argentina is a country that has immense cultural diversity. Everybody is proud of this
cultural diversity and this is how ῾The Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity᾽ was born.
This day is always celebrated on the second Monday of October and it was formerly
known as Race Day (Dia de la raza). This is the anniversary of Columbus’s discovery
of America.
Now you have an idea about what it means to feel happiness in different places and places
that are different from yours. Everybody wants the feeling of happiness that they got when
they visited a certain place.
A place is made up of its people, food, religion, parks, forests, buildings, homes, weather,
climate and all the things that you can or cannot see and experience.
The same is true for schools. While all schools teach the same subjects (almost), they have
a different culture that is shaped by their facilitators, learners, surroundings, furniture, or
even how they celebrate birthdays in the classroom.
In groups of four to six learners, brainstorm all the things that make you happy in your
diverse classroom. (Remember the rules of collaboration). Share with the class.
