Dear Editor,
My name is Harinder and I live in Delhi. I have never been to the seaside

and have only seen the big waves of an ocean in films or on television. My
friend Rasik is from Gujarat and he says he has visited the Rann of Kutch,
where salt is made. Is it true that most of our salt comes from there?

Rasik says that every year, from September to April, thousands of workers
live in the salt desert of the Rann without water and electricity. The
workers here are separated from each other by over a kilometre and
communicate by flashing mirrors in the sunlight. I want to know more about
the Rann of Kutch and its people.
