meeting. The assessed aspects met with the elements of the model. There are two
observers involve to assess students‘ activities during practicing the IBLL model.

The first observer claimed the students‘ activities were very good (84%) and the
second observer admitted that students‘ activities were very good (84%).

                        4. Lecturers’ Roles
The writing lecturers play important roles in writing classes during

implementing the IBLL model. The roles include an assessor, feedback giver,
facilitator, and information provider. These roles abridge lecturers to make

students feel easy to write any kind of texts relating to the topics provided. The

description of each role is elaborated further as follows.
                        a) Assessor

Lecturer assesses the students‘ writing products in the end of the class and

during the writing processes in the classes. Since writing processes, lecturer
assesses students‘ performance in writing the simple sentences, the supporting

sentences, and paragraphs dealing with schematic structures of descriptive texts
and exposition texts. In writing descriptive texts, lecturer reviews the students‘

writing of introductory paragraph, body of text, and conclusion of descriptive text
that students wrote. Meanwhile in writing exposition texts, lecturer assesses

students‘ writing of the generic structures of exposition texts. Each task includes

some writing tasks to practice to write. The result of this was assessed by lecturer.
The role of lecturer as an assessor in writing classes is based on learning

needs so as to lead students to write better. Based on the result of interview with
some writing lecturers, they indicate that the role of assessor is important role in

writing classrooms. L1 stated that ―…hasil kerja siswa kita nilai baik dari segi
grammarnya, kosakatanya, ejaannya …”. L1 argued that students‘ writing

product is assessed by writing lecturer so that students know their errors whether

in grammars, dictions, and spellings. Also, L3 added that ―…dosen harus
mengoreksi hasil kerja siswa sebagi bentuk penilaiannya terhadap hasil belajar

mahasiswa baik ketika proses belajar dikelas maupun hasil tes menulis
mahasiswa…‖. L2 added that lecturer assessed students‘ writing both during in

writing processes in the class and in writing product of writing test. Therefore,

researcher enacted the role of lecturer as an assessor in the IBLL model.
