Day 4: "A Partner’s Suspicion"

Scene:
The next morning, Javi is back at the police headquarters, standing in front of a large digital screen that
displays his next patrol route. His thoughts are still on Gelia and Abigaile, but he tries to push them
aside. Just as he’s about to head out, his partner, Lleona, approaches him. She’s sharp-eyed and
focused, her uniform perfectly pressed as always. There’s a tension between them—Lleona’s been
noticing a change in Javi lately.

Lleona: (leaning against the console, eyeing him)
"You’ve been acting strange, Javi. Something bothering you?"

Javi: (avoiding her gaze, stiffly)
"No. Just tired, that’s all."
Lleona: (narrowing her eyes)
"Is that so? I heard you were patrolling Sector 9 last night. Weird place to be tired from."

Javi tenses. Sector 9 is where he met Abigaile and Gelia, and he knows Lleona’s sharp enough to pick
up on any slip-ups.

Javi: (shrugging)
"Routine sweep. Nothing happened."

Lleona: (crossing her arms, skeptical)
"Really? Because I’ve been hearing rumors. A mother and child, hiding out in Sector 9. And you know
what happens when they send us after them."

Javi feels his stomach twist. Lleona’s always been by the book, strictly following orders without
question. She’s fiercely loyal to the government, and Javi knows she won’t hesitate if she finds out the
truth.

Javi: (calmly)
"I didn’t see anything. Must just be rumors."

Lleona steps closer, her eyes locking onto his.
