“We can’t make it!” she cried. “The
witch will catch us and we won’t get out in
time. We’ll be trapped here forever!”
“I know it looks easier to give up,”
said Craig, “But we can make it if we just keep
on keeping on.” As he helped her up, a wood
elf in a suit of leaves and acorn hat approached.
It was Leshy, who right away traded the four
swan coats for the Firebird feather.
Then, with only ?ve minutes to go and Baba Yaga
right on their tails, the three rushed back to the pond and
returned the feathered coats to the princesses. They
were so grateful that they swiftly put them on, turned
into swans, and ?ew at the witch to distract her.
It was one minute to twelve when Claudia,
Craig, and the Travel Bug hurried to the Story House
door, yanked it open, and tumbled out onto the stone
street of Moscow.
“Wow, that was close!” said Claudia, catching her breath.
“Yeah,” said Craig, “but I wish we could have explored more of the North.”
The Travel Bug said it knew of a snowy place they could go, so with a loud
“Zuhma Zoom,” they called the Bubble and took off for another
adventure.
