    USING SOCIAL MEDIA

    Most of you have used some form of social media but being able to use social media and know-
    ing the best way to use it to promote your radio station are two vastly different propositions.


    You need to think strategically and creatively about what channels are best to reach your poten-
    tial audience, and how you should use these channels to achieve the best results.

    The Pros and Cons of using social media to promote your radio station are…


    Pros: In short, using the likes of Twitter, Instagram and Facebook are great tools to inform your
    existing audience about your schedule of shows, what’s coming up and any insightful discussion
    that has occurred.


    Images, sound grabs, short video, and quotes from a guest or as part of discussion are example
    of the type of engaging content that your listeners are most likely to ‘like’ and share.

    Cons: It’s difficult to build your audience using social media unless your audience promotes and
    shares content that you post.
