ABSTRACT METHODOLOGY
This study applies the fuzzy TOPSIS method to determine the most effective teaching method for
kindergarten students. Four alternatives like play-based learning, group learning or collaborative
method, interactive multimedia tools, and role-playing method were evaluated based on students’
1 engagement, adaptability, time of preparation, and cost. Data were obtained through face-to-face
discussions with key decision makers. Findings indicate that play-based learning is the most
effective, offering both high engagement and practical flexibility. The study provides valuable
guidance for educators and curriculum planners in selecting developmentally appropriate and
efficient teaching methods for early childhood education.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Despite the increasing awareness of early childhood education in Kelantan, many kindergarten
teachers struggle to choose effective teaching methods suited to different types of institutions like
2 government, private, religious, and special needs. Existing studies often lack context and specific
evaluations, especially within the Malaysian setting. This gap limits informed decision-making.
Therefore, a structured, data-driven approach is needed to identify the most effective teaching
methods tailored to each kindergarten type. This study addresses that need using the fuzzy TOPSIS
method.
OBJECTIVES
To apply the Triangular Fuzzy Number (TFN) in the multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) process.
To apply the fuzzy TOPSIS method in identifying the most effective teaching method for 4

CONCLUSION
RESULT AND DISCUSSION
This study applied Fuzzy TOPSIS to evaluate four teaching methods for
kindergarten based on engagement, adaptability, preparation time,
6 7 and cost.
Play-based learning ranked highest (0.482) for its ability to engage
students and use low-cost, reusable materials.
Multimedia tools followed, but cost and adaptability were concerns.
Group learning and role-playing ranked lower due to time and practical
limitations.
Play-based learning ranked highest (0.482) based on students’
engagement, adaptability, time of preparation, and cost. RECOMMENDATIONS
