Bev Chalabian
Bev Chalabian, AKA Camel, is fond of saying that she does not
do crafts. She may not realize that the frst time she said that was
when she began crafting herself into the perfect well-rounded adult
volunteer. While she had her daughters in Shaker Schools, Camel was
active in the Shaker Heights Service Unit as a Girl Scout Leader, and,
of course, got roped into working on various projects. She organized
SU 642 Camporee and kept track of proper protocols within GSLEC.
She offered leader camp training and later helped found the Leader
Training Support Team, which helped to write proper procedures for
leader activities with girls. Not to be left behind, she served on the
GSLEC Board of Directors. One thing Camel was very good at was
recruiting committees of volunteers who did do crafts and who were
agreeable to help organize many Something Special leader weekends
and trainer conferences that were indeed something special. All this
crafting was accompanied by potluck dinners at Bev’s and much
hilarious activity. Through it all Camel remained calm, smiling and
kind to all and a sister to every Girl Scout. We are proud to honor her
with the Wall of Honor tribute. She is true gold!

Jane usually tells people early that she has the best job in the world as
Chief Executive Offcer of GSNEO, and we couldn’t agree more that
it’s a wonderful ft. She brings a wealth of personal and organizational
experience and understanding related to Girl Scouting including
being a Girl Scout herself for ten years and a Leader of her daughter’s
troop for seven. She is supportive of our committee and has made
herself and her staff readily available, answering any and all questions
clearly and directly as well as sharing her knowledge of the Council to
improve our experience and expertise. Her frequent organizational
newsletters are informative and upbeat; her staff responsive to our
needs and wants. She has enthusiastically attended our events
and has whole heartedly participated in the Wall of Honor Tribute
program from the beginning, honoring those who especially inspired
and helped her along her Girl Scout journey. We deeply appreciate
and honor Jane for being a dynamic, genuine, personable and
positive leader.
