Heather Day

Every day Heather lived the Girl Scout Mission and Girl Scout
Law. She embodied the spirit of Girl Scouting. As a staff member
she showed vision, initiative and leadership. As a mentor she
served as a role model. She impacted and inspired countless
volunteers who have gone on to inspire a new generation of
girls. When challenges seemed insurmountable, she rolled up
her sleeves and dove in, working side-by-side with others – she
never asked anyone to do something she would not do herself.
She also performed many tasks “under the radar”, not seeking
praise or recognition. Her friendliness and openness put all at
ease.

Western Reserve Council was lucky to claim her as one of its girl
members, and she infuenced countless girls during her time
on staff at Camp Ledgewood. From there, her Girl Scout career
fourished outside of northeastern Ohio. In 2007, Heather
returned to GSNEO. Our Council continues to beneft from
her involvement in many areas of Girl Scouting. She charged
forward with the Adult Learning Experience resulting in a strong
and popular program offered to so many of our members. She
took the Key Women’s Leadership Academy from a theoretical
idea on paper, and transformed it to an interactive, stimulating,
and inspiring program for our adult members. She oversaw the
implementation of a Volunteer Resource Guide for our council,
helping equip our volunteers with the tools they need to fulfll
our mission. On behalf of the many friends whose lives Heather
touched, we are pleased to add Heather Day to the Wall of
Honor. Heather was truly courageous, confdent and caring
and she made the world (and Girl Scouting in Northeast Ohio) a
better place. She will be missed but never forotten.
