                FERC: Social Media Officer - Work Description and Personal Qualities

          Title: Social Media Officer
          Reports to: The FERC Board/Advisory Committee (AC)
          Main purpose: To raise awareness of FERC’s aims and activities, and to encourage a broader
          base of donor support.

          Working hours: Variable but an estimated average of 4 hours per month.
          Key tasks:
          • Attend the majority of AC meetings and major events.
          • Work with the webmaster in uploading the newsletter.
          • Upload newsletters to Google Drive.
          • Take the lead in the generation of fresh and relevant newsworthy material for inclusion in the
            FERC social media portfolio.
          • Collate information and photographs to send to the webmaster for the updating of the website at
            least twice per annum.
          • Collate information and photographs in order to compile and disseminate the newsletter at least
            twice a year (usually in April and October after the Awards Ceremonies).

          • Update  the  Facebook  page  in  order  to  promote  upcoming  events  and  report  on  completed
            activities in a brief and less formal way.

          • Work closely with the Events Coordinator in promoting fundraising events.
          • Set  up  specialist  Information  Communication  Technology  (ICT)  equipment  at  special  events,
            ensuring that systems are ready for use and operating correctly.
          • Keep abreast of current or new hardware and software developments that will assist or inform
            our work efforts in terms of recording, preparing promotions, the use of ICT at events, etc.
          • Any other duties that may be reasonably required by the Board/AC from time to time.
          Skills and experience:
          • Possess sound Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills e.g. use a computer, tablet,
            or mobile phone, send an email, browse the internet, and make a video call.

          • A good command of written and spoken English.
          • Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
          • Possess good time management skills.
          • An ability to work independently, flexibly, and creatively.
          • To be familiar with confidentiality requirements and data protection.
          • To be mindful of equality and diversity requirements.
          Essential:

          • Have their own computer, scanner, and printer in good working condition.
          • Review the FERC Handbook.
