Dear Mr. Bloomberg:
I am writing to thank you and Bloomberg Philanthropies for the scholarship I received. As a child of a
long-time single father and the first in my family to pursue any graduate-level education, the concern of
financial debt has been significant. This scholarship will help alleviate a lot of my financial worries as I
complete my medical training.
I am originally from New Takoradi, Ghana, but have resided in Atlanta since I was 17 years old.
Currently, I am a third-year medical student at Morehouse School of Medicine. After graduation, I hope
to pursue a career in cardiology with a strong research focus. As a physician I look forward to serving
medically underserved populations both locally and globally.
When I first shared my desire to work towards a medical degree with my family, they were excited, but
also worried about my potential debt burden after graduation. Thanks to your generous contribution, I can
start off my career less concerned about debt and more focused on providing quality, affordable,
comprehensive, patient-centered care to my patients. Equally, your support offers me the opportunity to
jumpstart my career by investing in the next generation.
I am motivated to pursue excellence as a student and to reach back to the community at large as a
physician.
Again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Darlington D. Pobee
