OCCURRENCE: Found in Room 15, W.S.H.S. Sometimes mistaken for iron
(heads), and treated accordingly. Failure to isolate the various isotopes (pupils)
was regarded as owing to sub-normal influences by the chief chemist. There are
        four allotropes.
CHEMICAL RELATIONS : Some compounds are known. A peculiar property of
the isotopes is their tendency to exhibit slightly acidic properties to some sub
stances. The element reacts with eight substances (teachers), forming very
unstable compounds of a violent nature in several cases.
PREPARATION : The element 4A 3 is prepared by reconstructing the atomic
structure of the forty-two isotopes (under pressure, of course). Care should be
taken, as much heat is liberated during the process.
        PHYSICAL PROPERTIES :
COLOUR.—Grey with green stripes, with slight variations.
TASTE.—As yet unknown, as Miss Reid has not yet sampled the element
                    in this way.
            ODOUR.—(Censored).
SOLUBILITY.—Fairly soluble, as shown by attendance on wet days.
DENSITY.—Very dense, in more ways than one.
SPECIAL PROPERTY.—Comparatively difficult to control under pressure.
        CHEMICAL PROPERTIES :
The element does not burn, but reacts violently with several substances to
form dangerous compounds. The element reacts with the following in this way:—
            4A3 + TYETANIUM = BRONCOGEN
The product is very dangerous and highly explosive at times. It also reacts
with the radio-active REIDIUM, forming a highly unstable compound, often
        associated with nuclear fission.
4A3 + REIDIUM = HIGH FREQUENCY SOUND WAVES
Reactions with Donnellium and Lenihanium are vigorous, but the products
are unstable and readily decompose on cooling. The element also combines
favourably with Rhodium and Nixel, forming stable compounds at ordinary
        temperatures.
4A 3 reacts slightly with the elements Leethium and Chromium, but these
reactions are not violent, except for the loss of some particles to other areas.
            4A3 + CHROMIUM = SOME LEARNING + IMPOSITIONS
            4A3 + LEETHIUM = QUIET PERIODS
4A 3 is a powerful oxidizing agent, oxidizing elements (teachers) to rather
active compounds, and causes a certain amount of atomic dissociation in these
        elements.
There is a general dissociation at regular intervals (Wednesday sports time)
into the various energetic allotropes. The element 4A 3 exists only six hours a
day and is otherwise in the dissociated state.
TEST.—The test for the element 4A 3 is to add the radioactive Proc-
toractinum to it. A rather vigorous reaction results, and there is a colour change
from grey with green stripes to black and blue.
            4A 3 4- PROCTORACTINUM = ACTINUM + SCREAMIUM
