Champion” and “District Champion,” Dennis Davis, who has great
ambitions for an athletic future.
In the cultural field we have Kay Burnett, Elaine Milkins and
Patricia Fairweather learning elocution, while David Betts, Dennis Davis,
Dianne Crombie and Patricia Fairweather do Little Theatre work.
Dennis was “King of Hearts” and David “The Cheshire Cat” in Mercury
Theatre’s production of “Alice in Wonderland” and Patricia and Dianne
had prominent parts in Harlequin Theatre’s production of “My Aunt.”
Roy Orr is our pianist. Betty Turner and Nancy Brown are our
ballerinas. We wish good luck to Maurice Doube and Roy Orr, eisteddfod
contestants, who spend their lunch-hour singing about “Wonderful
Worlds to Be” and “Shooting Arrows Into the Air”,
And now we have only enough space to wish all students of
W.H.I.S. success in forthcoming examinations and a very happy holiday.
FORM IB
Hello everyone, trom IB. We are really on the whole a clever class,
although Mrs. Morris, our teacher, seldom holds those views, especially
dbring the maths, lesson, and after the composition period.
In the musical field we have Bernard Kemp and Robyn Ormerod who
play the mouth organ, and Beryl Neilsen and Diane Hensler who are
two of our pianists, while Pamela Morgan, Beryl Neilsen, Barbara
Blackburn, Judith Price, Dorothea Champion and Joyce North sing in
Miss Lilley’s choir. Sandra Batchelor learns toe and ballet dancing,
and previously studied elocution.
Our Form captains are Alayne Smith and Lee Williams, and our
artists Roger Cumming, who excels in black and white drawings, and
Aileen Barr, who paints extremely well in oils.
Our New Australians are Tania Chuikoff, who is from Russia,
Willemien Van Zealand is Dutch, Gerlinde Sticker migrated from Ger
many, Barbara Blackburn is Scotch and Gillian Powell, Welsh.
In the sporting world we have Aileen Barr, the class tennis
champion, Wendy Eames has won many cups for swimming, Ray Maltby
represented the school in the soccer team, Keith Haidle also plays
football in one form or another. Some pupils are representing their
school in the District Sports.
With grateful thanks to our long-suffering teachers, this is IB
wishing everyone success in the final exam., and a happy, well-earned
( ?) holiday.
