           February 11 : "Each matin bell
                  Knells us back to a world of death.’’
               With groans and complaints we (somehow) dragged ourselves
           back to our beloved school. There were a number of changes in the
           teaching staff. Left—Miss D. Baldwin. Miss G. Gredden. Miss A. Scanlon,
           Miss A. Galvin.
               Arrived—Miss G. Golliker. Miss L. Lenihan, Mr. C. Benn, Mr. R.
           Mahoney, Mr. B. Parton, Mrs. E. Innocend.
               First term service of year. Address: Rev. J. W. Nommensen.
           February 13 : House meetings; swimming teams chosen.
           February 14 : First High School assembly.
           February 19 : Tennis coaching started, first meeting of Crusader
                  Movement.
           February 20 : School tennis teams chosen, cricket fixtures started.
           February 21 : "... setting endeavour to which is fixed Obedience . .
                  First Cadet Unit parade of year.
           February 26 : “Darest thou now
                  Leap in with me into this angry flood,
                  And swim to yonder point?”
                  High School Inter-House Swimming Carnival, held at Manly
                  Baths (the coldest day of the Summer).
           February 29 : We selected school prefects . . some, like Magistrates,
                  correct at home.”
           March 5 : Intermediate School Swimming Carnival.
           March 12 : Visit to school meeting by travelling secretary of Crusader
                  Movement.
           March 16 : “Courage,” he said, “and pointed to the land,” G.P.S.
                  Swimming Carnival at which girls competed.
           March 22 : “I’ve lived upon the mainland, but I’ll die upon the sea.”
                  State Secondary Schools Swimming. By this time, we were
                  thoroughly waterlogged.
           April 2 : “Thou’ll break my heart, thou warbling bird.” School choir
                  commenced under Miss Pigram.
           April 3 : Preparations for the school fete. First matches of Inter-House
                  football.
           April 10 : Inter-House football continued—a number of casualties.
           April 12 : “Relentless walls ! whose darksome round contains
                  Repentant sighs, and voluntary pains : ”
                  Start of first term examinations. Much anguish.
           April 17 : Griffith covered itself with glory and blood in winning the
                  Inter-House football. End of first term examination.
           April 24 : Cadets paraded for School Anzac Service.
           April 25 : Anzac Day—Cadets parade at both Manly and Wynnum
                  Services.
           May 1 : “For ’tis my delight of a likely night
                  In the season of the year.”
                  First term social.
           May 3 : End of first term—May vacation.
           May 13 : Back again. Term service, address, Rev. R. Heaton.
