Malaysia is a richly diverse country, Opinion Articles
home to multiple ethnic groups, religions,
languages, and cultures.
This pluralism is a national strength,
but also a persistent source of social friction.
Over the years, particularly since the General Election
in 2018 general election,
Malaysia has experienced recurring waves
of intergroup conflict linked to race,
religion, and royalty — the so-called ‘3Rs’ issues.
These conflicts have been exacerbated by polarised politics,
online hate speech, and a lack of meaningful dialogue platforms.
