HOME VISIT
7-The major tasks of the nurse in home visit is getting the family ready
to accept the services of the community resources as needed and
desired
8-The nurse can make appropriate referral to these resources as needed.
Factors affecting home visit (requirements):
1. An availability of resources including human resources.
2. It requires technical skills, knowledge, intelligence, and the ability
to teach of care givers.
3. Essential equipment required for home visit such as community
bag, family folder, and health education material.
Principles of home visit:
Principles involved in preparing for a home visit;
1. Home visits should be regular, flexible and planned with purpose
2. Planning for a home visit should make use of all available information
about the patient and his family through family records.
3. Planning for a home visit should consider and give priority to the
essential needs if the individual and his family.
4. Planning and delivery of care should involve the individual and family.
5. Be sure of the scientific soundness of the subjects.
6. The home visit should be evaluated periodically.
7. Make a diary note of important facts about the home visit.
Frequency of home visit and risk families who should be given high
priority in home visiting;
It will depend upon the extent of health problems of the family.
Priorities are established on the following guidelines;
1. Visits in response to the need felt by the family such as mother in
labour, acute and serious illness.
2. Visit to premature infants and infants with defects
3. Regular visits to post natal mother and antenatal mother
