               B. Major responsibilities of national OSH institutions.

                        Define  the  general  policies  and  programs  ensuring  the
                          protection  of  manpower  as  well  as  the  procedures  for  their

                          implementation

                        NIOSH Established in 1969, as an independent research agency
                          for OSH


                        Periodic  follow-up  of  occupational  health  conditions;
                          epidemiological study of work-related diseases;


                        Study occupational and environmental health problems caused
                          by industries and suggest control measures;

                        Conduct  health  surveys  for  specific  problems  in  industrial
                          establishments especially in heavily industrialized areas;


                        Keep  records  of  cases  of  pesticide  poisoning,  and  suggest
                          control measures;
