ADVANCED ROLE OF COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING



                      adaptability  and  willingness  to  provide  care  in  many  settings,
                      including  community  health  clinics,  churches,  homeless  shelters,
                      and schools. These nurses provide comprehensive care to patients

                      within  their  homes.  Advanced  practice  nurses  in  communities
                      improve access to care and lower costs.
               Advantages of Expanded and Extended role of C H Nurse:
                   1  It provides variety of services for patient of all age groups which may
                      be part of hospital or community.
                   2  It enhances clinical decision skills.
                   3  It provides great challenges and opportunities for nurses.
                   4  It provides expert knowledge and high level of job satisfaction.

               Expand the role of the future community health nursing
               1)  Palliative / Hospice Care Nurse:
                     Palliative means an agent which relives but doesn’t care disease. A
                      hospice  is  a  system  of  care  designed  to  make  the  terminally  ill

                      patient comfortable and to ensure satisfactory lifestyle through the
                      terminal phase of illness.
                     Provide  care  and  support  to  the  patient  and  family  during  the
                      terminal phase. Provide pain control and comfort measures.

               2)  Home care agencies

                     Provide a broad spectrum of care

                     Teaching  family  and  caregivers  is  a  large  part  of  the  home  care
                      professional’s responsibility

               3)  Culturally competent nursing care

                     The care designed with an understanding of the impact of issues
                      such  as  culture,  race,  gender,  and  sexual  orientation  on
                      individuals, families, and communities.

                     Competence enables health care providers to respond effectively to
                      the  beliefs,  behaviors,  and  needs  of  individuals  and  their

                      communities.
               4)  Case management nursing care

                     Case  management  is  a  systematic  process  by  which  a  nurse

                      assesses client's needs plans for and coordinates services, refers to
                      other appropriate providers, and monitors and evaluates progress
                      to  ensure  that  clients  multiple  service  needs  are  met  in  a  cost-
                      effective manner.
