                                 Review: Ben E Zander

“I’ve always dreamed of making an album.
I think every artist does, but, if I’m being
honest, I don’t think I was ready for the
first few years of my career to do
something as comprehensive as this. I feel
like I was still collecting the necessary
skills to make an album and still getting
better at songwriting. At a certain point, I
realized it was the necessary next step in
               my artist development.
So, I just started collecting tracks, and
kind of gave myself both the space and
the freedom to write songs that were
different and pushing boundaries. I did
that for two and a half years, collected the
best ideas, and held them back without
putting them out. Slowly this thing took
shape, and it’s just a refining process after
               that.”

Rinzen has been DJing for nearly fourteen
years, producing music for twelve, and is a
graduate of LA’s Icon Collective Music
Production School. In 2017 the stars
aligned for his entry into the electronic
scene as a producer. Concerning the topic
of opportunity, he supplied this insight.
“It began with this official remix of Giorgio
Moroder, which came about from me
               being a
               writer, interviewing him, and becoming
friends with his manager. Which then led
               me to launch my project.

Then, I realized I had all this original
music, and I thought, if I could pick a label
to be my original label, who would I want
to work with? Mau5trap was the obvious
choice. I had done coverage of some other
Mau5trap artists, and one of them was the
artist Black Gummy. I was friends with his
team. I sent them the music and asked
them if they could pass along one of the
               demos to Mau5trap.
