                                    Edinburgh & the Highlands by SteamEnjoy the majesty of Edinburgh before exploring the lochs, mountains and glens of Perthshire and the Cairngorms, aboard Scotland%u2019s spectacular railways.6 DAYS from%u00a3999ppDays 1-2. Edinburgh, the Kelpies and Blair AthollOn the first day of your holiday, meet the Tour Manager at our Edinburgh hotel. After checking in, you have time to explore the Scottish capital. On Day 2, we head to the magnificent Kelpies by coach. Created by Glasgow artist Andy Scott, these sculptures honour Scotland%u2019s hardworking horses. Nearby is the world%u2019s only rotating boat lift %u2013 the Falkirk Wheel. We experience it with a boat trip including a canal ride at the top. We then stop in historic Stirling before taking the train to Blair Atholl where we check in to our hotel. Days 3-4. Pitlochry and the Jacobite Steam TrainWe begin at Queen%u2019s View today, one of Scotland%u2019s most famous lookouts. With panoramas stretching out across Loch Tummel towards the Glencoe Hills, you can see why this was Queen Victoria%u2019s favourite view. Continuing to Pitlochry, set against the backdrop of mighty Ben Vrackie, take some time to discover this quaint town. We then return to Blair Atholl to explore Blair Castle, one of Scotland%u2019s premier stately homes. On Day 4, we experience the West Highland Line aboard the Jacobite steam train*. A highlight of the route is crossing the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, recognisable from the %u2018Harry Potter%u2019 films. The line descends to Mallaig, a fishing port overlooking the Isle of Skye. Enjoy time at leisure before our return journey on the Jacobite. *Steam-hauled when possible. Some departures will make this journey on Scotrail%u2019s diesel service.Days 5-6. Scenic Highland railways & homeward boundToday, we take a return journey on the Strathspey Steam Railway, following the historic Highland Railway route through the scenic valley on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park. From Aviemore, we travel by coach to Cairngorm to ride the Cairngorms Mountain Railway for a spectacular ascent to the summit. Next, we visit the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore. This living museum is a tribute to traditional Highland life, with recreated buildings, costumes and artefacts from the 18th century.
