unknown origin.
(viii)The surveyor should determine the date, hour, cause
of loss and the location at which it occurred. He
should also ascertain by whom the loss was
discovered, when and how the alarm was given,
the nature of fire fighting measures, problems
encountered by fire brigade, features of the property,
risks responsible for the origin of the loss, nature
and extent of loss.
(ix) The features of the property that contributed to the
occurrence of the loss, the nature, and size of the
loss is important, from the point of view of avoidance
of a recurrence of the loss. It is also important from
an underwriting point of view, to deal with future
insurance of similar properties.
Q8. Role of surveyor in assessment of loss.
Ans. There are several steps a surveyor has to follow to find
the extent of loss:
